On to Term Two

I have so much to do that this is going to be short and sweet.  First, 1st Term is now over and I'm working on grades - they're not due for a couple of days yet, so your patience is appreciated.  Second, parent teacher conferences are coming up for the afternoon of Monday, 11/19 from 3:00 to 6:00 at the high school.  I'll be emailing anyone I'm concerned about, but anyone is welcome.  If you can't make it to conferences, feel free to call or email.

Last week English 9 finished reading Romeo and Juliet, so this week is all about assessment. English 10 started reading The Immortal Life of  Henrietta Lacks; this entails a lot of independent reading on their part, so if they say they have no homework, that's probably false.

Here's the plan for this week:

English 9

  • Monday, 11/12 - watch the movie of Romeo and Juliet
  • Tuesday, 11/13 - Academic Advisory -  finish the movie; short Romeo and Juliet test - matching/true-false/multiple choice
  • Wednesday, 11/14 - write the draft of the body of the essay
  • Thursday, 11/15 - PSAT/SAT Advisory - write the introduction/conclusion of the essay
  • Friday, 11/16 - type up and submit the essay on Google Classroom
English 10
  • Monday, 11/12 - read chapters 4-7 in HeLa for Tuesday; find, read, and annotate a short story related to Passion Project topic for Friday
  • Tuesday, 11/13 - Academic Advisory - type 1; quiz for ch. 4-7; read ch. 8
  • Wednesday, 11/14 - type 1; read ch. 9-11 independently
  • Thursday, 11/15 - PSAT/SAT Advisory (new rotation) - type 1 - turn in for week; quiz for ch. 9-11; read ch. 12, 13, 14
  • Friday, 11/16 - reach ch. 15-16 in HeLa for Monday; work on short story for Passion Project
I'm a little ambitious on the timeline for the Romeo and Juliet essay, so those dates might get changed, but I'll update the calendar to reflect it.  I hope everyone has a great week!
