Welcome Back!

Welcome back, and Happy 2020! It's always nice to start new, and I'm hoping the goals they all created the Friday before break are still all over the walls and not on the floor. Since it's really not the start of something new, and we're actually coming into the home stretch for the semester (three weeks to go), I'm hoping the goal setting and activities we're doing to finish things off will help them to re-set their focus. Before break all anyone could think about was vacation, so I hope the break helped everyone re-charge and get ready to be back at the grind.

To finish things off, all of my groups are heading into summative assessments:

  • English 9 has a final essay for the short story unit
  • English 10 has a research based project/presentation
  • Both groups will have a final semester exam
My goal this week is to get them into the papers/presentations.  Here's the schedule:

English 9
  • Monday, 1/6 - hand back papers; feedback activity for essays; make goal for the next three weeks
  • Tuesday, 1/7 - Academic Advisory - bell work; work back through "The Cask of Amontillado"
  • Wednesday, 1/8 - bell work; finish "Cask;" Quiz for "Cask;" start outlining the essay
  • Thursday, 1/9 - PSAT Advisory - bell work; continue outlining the paper and find quotes/evidence
  • Friday, 1/10 - bell work - turn in; work on essay
English 10
  • Monday, 1/6 - hand back papers; feedback activity for essays; make goal for the next three weeks
  • Tuesday, 1/7 - Academic Advisory - bell work; 3rd Hour - read HeLa; 4th Hour - MLA container activity, start research project/presentation
  • Wednesday, 1/8 - bell work; 3rd Hour - finish HeLa; 4th Hour - work on project/presentation
  • Thursday, 1/9 - PSAT Advisory - bell work; 3rd Hour - quiz for HeLa, MLA container activity; 4th Hour - work on project/presentation
  • Friday, 1/10 - bell work; all - work on project/presentation
May you all have a great week, and an even better January! Ciao!
